Costco is the least expensive place to purchase tequila but their selection is not large. I buy Don Julio 1942 tequila at Costco for US$95 per one litre bottle. The same bottle at the airport is $140! I recommend you not purchase alcohol at the airport "duty free" store. The prices are sky high there. "Duty free" is a gimmick. The next best place to purchase tequila is La Europea liquor store - huge selection and resonable prices.
Meanwhile, 97% of the tequilas in the country came from the state of Jalisco. This is the best place to find this drink. Aside from that, this tequila region in the highlands is best known for its good soil and climate. Tequila producers are still using the traditional way in terms of the production process which has been around for a century. There are other regions of Mexico that are known for their tequila and these are Nayarit, Guanajuato, and Tamaulipas.
Searching for the best bottle of tequila in the town of Tequila is not an easy feat. After all, there are a whole lot of brands that are vying for the top spot. For example, Cierto Tequila received two gold medals at the 2021 Europe Wine & Spirits Competition, and with good reason.
The tequila bottles of Grand Mayan are among the best that you will find in the market today. After all, they have won multiple awards for their design and of course the taste of their drink. Mexican artists paint each bottle by hand.
This distillery has its own agave farms nearby. In addition, their agaves grow larger in their farms plus have that tropical fruit flavor to them. If you are looking for top-shelf tequila, this is one brand that falls under this category. In fact, the original Patron tequila came from them. The best part is that they sell their drinks for a good price that will not be hard on your pockets.
Always good to bring attention to this great liquor category. I still don't know why every brand mentioned is available in the US in an article titled "What's the best tequila to bring back from Mexico to the US?". You do mention some gems: Cazcanes, Siete Leguas, El Tequileno and T1 but then include a couple of diffuser made brands (El Jimador, Casa Dragones) and/or rely on additives for their flavor. Others are popular, but have fallen off their mark since being consumed by big liquor distributors.A few things need qualification: "Reposado takes up to 60 days"? Actually 2 months to 12 months. Anejos are 12 to 36 months. XAs are 36+ months. Also tequila is produced in 5 regions, not 4 - Michoacan was missed
My advice is to buy something that you can't get where you are from. I do not like Tequila only because the 2 times I have it, "it" made me YACK. Then my girlfriend started in on something about moderation or something. But anyway, when ever I go somewhere, I always buy the ones that you can't get here, usually rums for me. They make great converstional pieces as well as a good reason to invite a buddy over to taste. So even though they may not be the best rums available there, they are not available here at all. So even though cabo wabo might be great....I can get it here for $7 more. To me that's not worth packing it back. But some local brand in a weird bottle......that's a consumable souviner. Everyone wins. Just a suggestion
Crunkman- In the quest for a great tequila start with a tasting at Panchos Restaurant. Once you have made your selection (and recovered from the tasting) you will likely find yourself spending time seeking a great price as well. To speed up your search try Costco for the best price and a very good selection. Also check out Europa along the same road on which Costco is located or at the new mall on the marina. With the money you have saved you can now buy an extra bottle and with the time you have saved you can have some Baja moments consuming it. Enjoy! Wish we were there.
George Morrison: The margaritas are amazing! They don't use a mix only fresh fruit juices and the tequila is the real deal from Jalisco Tequila Mexico..The best Margarita I have ever had in Cabo, 20+ years of Cabo

The walk-in humidor at J&J Habanos (AKA La Casa del Habano) smells like a cigar aficionado's idea of heaven, not surprising since the store is the most reliable place in Los Cabos to buy Cuban cigars. Authenticity may be questionable at best at other local tobacconists, but J&J offers nothing but genuine stogies, singly or by the box, from premier Cuban producers like Montecristo, Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta. Prices aren't cheap for top brands, but affordable cigars are available, and J&J also boasts one of the largest local collections of premium 100% blue agave tequilas. Big Papa mojitos cocktails and top-shelf tequila tastings are also popular features.
In addition, this blanco tequila has rich notes of citrus, vanilla, black pepper, and caramel. It may not be one of the best-selling tequilas in the market, but it has the authentic taste of tequila [3] worth trying.

There might be a fairly wide range of flavored tequilas on the market, but by far, the best comes from Tanteo. The brand was founded in 2009 and prides itself on creating infused, 100% agave spirits.
The art of tequila-making starts long before the distillation process. The spirit is made from agave, a spiky Mexican plant resembling a cactus. There are 166 different varieties of this botanical, and 125 of them can be found in Mexico. But only one, the Agave Tequilana Were Azul or Blue Agave, can be used to produce tequila. The plant needs to be harvested during particular points of the year for best results and registered with the Tequila Regulatory Council in order to be used for tequila legally.
But one of the most impressive details is that each guest at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal gets a complimentary 375ml bottle of Clase Azul tequila with the Waldorf Astoria branding on it. That's no small expense, as this is some of the best tequila you'll find: It regularly retails for around $160 for a full 750ml bottle in the U.S. 781b155fdc
