Students of the School of Pharmacy are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of other insurance coverage is demonstrated. All students who are enrolled may also insure their eligible dependents. Details as to the definition of eligible student and eligible dependents, fees, and waiver requirements are available at www.studentinsurance.com.
Plan Waiver: Students covered under another health insurance plan are required to waive the Marshall Student Health Insurance Plan. If you do not waive the Marshall Student Health Insurance Plan, the $2,460 fee will remain as a charge on your account. Evidence of alternative health insurance coverage must by submitted on the online waiver system found at www.studentinsurance.com. When the waiver has been successfully completed, you will receive a confirmation. Print this confirmation and keep a copy for your records. After successfully waiving the Marshall Student Health Insurance Plan, the fee will be removed from your student account.
All traditional, undergraduate students and international students are automatically enrolled for USF health insurance every year. Students can view/print detailed policy information and an insurance card from the website studentinsurance.com. While graduate students are not automatically enrolled, they are able to purchase student insurance upon request. Insurance brochures are available at the Wellness Center located on the second floor of Tower Hall, Room S213.
Registered students taking six (6) or more credit hours are required to purchase the University of North Carolina system-wide Student Health Insurance Plan, with the following exceptions: distance education students (students taking only off-campus and internet courses) and students who submit evidence of equivalent coverage satisfactory to the policyholder. All students are automatically enrolled in the UNC system-wide plan each semester and are obligated for the cost of the plan for that semester unless the student submits a waiver request at www.studentinsurance.com that is successfully verified as creditable coverage. Registered students must visit www.studentinsurance.com to waive this insurance. An overview of the plan is available on the website of Student Health Services (www.uncp.edu/shs).
